i am only a tiny mountain stream
bed
holding
this cold and bubbling
crystal clear
light
at times
until i become its shape
know what it’s like
to be water
to be life
like the roots of trees
or the tiny red of a bird
migrating
over these vast lands
i do not forget
where i have come from

of stream beds
and the water together
