a vote for honesty

the grass cold wet,
surprised,
awaiting.
the loud chirp chirping of green tree frogs
low and long drawn out
in short bursts of life sounded
a song.
tall thick
and heavy with night dew
the grass covered the bare soles of our feet
waiting.
the buzzing of large, darting invisible insects
droned
quickly by the skin of my cheek,
waiting.
three trees stood, familar, dark trunks
against the milky blackness of [...]

I survived.
Not everyone does, you know.
What about Confetti Kid?
He ran around Madison
In my own state,
Jumping off buildings
Thinking he was superman.
I imagine seeing him on State Street
Next  to an old black man dancing
With his weathered saxophone,
